(Clearwisdom.net) At around 10 a.m. on June 16, 2003, practitioner Ji Songshan from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested by the local police. During his interrogation, the police used brutal methods to torture Ji in an attempt to force a confession out of him. By 4 p.m. on the same day, Ji Songshan had been tortured to death. After his death, the perpetrators pushed his body down from the 7^th floor of a building in order to stage a "suicide." According to people who were at the scene, Ji's body was covered with injuries.

(Clearwisdom.net) June 19^th report: on June 15, 2003, it was reported that beginning on April 22, 2003, the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp in Henan Province began using forced "reform" methods on determined Dafa practitioners. They have created specially constructed strait jackets for use as extremely brutal torture devices. The abuse of strait jackets, which are normally used to restrain violent mental patients, originated in the No. 3 Male Labor Camp in Xuchang City, Henan Province. Made of fine canvas, they are put on the victim from the front and tightened from behind the back. The sleeves are about 10 inches longer than the victim's arms, with straps on them.

They force determined Dafa practitioners to wear this jacket, and then cross and tie their arms behind their backs. Then they pull their arms up over their shoulders to the front of their chest, tie up the practitioners' legs and hang them up in the air from the windows. At the same time, they gag practitioners' mouths with cloth, put earphones in their ears and continuously play messages that slander Dafa. According to an eyewitness account, people who suffer this torture quickly sustain broken arms, tendons, shoulders, wrists and elbows. Those who endure this torture for a long time have completely broken spines, and they die in agonizing pain.

On May 22, a female Dafa practitioner around 40 years of age was tortured this way for one day and one night. When she was released from the strait jacket on May 23, her body was cold. In order to conceal their crime, the police ordered drug addicts, and criminals Yan Ping and Fu Jinyu to carry her body to a nearby hospital for an injection. Afterwards they claimed she died from a sudden illness and hastily cremated her body.

Since April 22, six Dafa practitioners have been tortured to death this way, including Zhang Yali, Zhang Baoju, Guan Ge. Their ages range from 40 to 60.

The arms of 53-year-old Dafa practitioner Wei Guirong from Zhenzhou City were permanently disabled. During this time, several Dafa practitioners on the top floor of the labor camp died from being hung up in the air.

Around 2:00 a.m. on June 4, Dafa practitioner Zhang Xiuhua from Zhenzhou City was hung up, and her neck sustained a deep cut mark that is still visible. Right now, Dafa practitioners are still being tortured.

It was learned that the guards at the No. 3 division ordered drug addicts Yan Ping and Fu Jinyu to force Dafa practitioners to wear this strait jacket which caused the death of six practitioners. The thugs secretly locked the two drug addicts in a room on the ground floor and didn't allow them to see anyone. On June 15, the authorities released the two criminals two months before their full term. Before their release, the No. 3 division chief Jiang Meili threatened the drug addicts, "Don't you dare divulge information about this death to anyone, or your families won't escape our severe punishment."

Since June, chief Liu of the Forced Labor Education Bureau in Henan Province has showed up frequently at the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp. He is in his 40's, with medium stature and large eyes. On June 14, he praised the two murderers and drugs addicts.

In order to forcibly "reform" Dafa practitioners, currently the labor camp has stopped normal operations and dispersed determined Dafa practitioners into different sections. They order criminals to maximally monitor and follow the practitioners, or they drag out the individual practitioners and brutally torture them. The information blockade is strict, and we cannot find out the names of the persecuted practitioners. Right now, more than 100 Dafa practitioners are being detained at the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp, and more than 20 are being tortured with the strait jacket. Their lives are constantly at risk. We call on the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong to please help rescue these Dafa practitioners. Dafa practitioners abroad, please make phone calls to clarify the truth and suppress the evil in other dimensions that is behind this outrage.

(Clearwisdom.net) I was illegally detained in Beijing's Women's Forced Labor Camp (formally known as Xinan), 3^rd Division. I would like to share my experience and tell what I know to the world.

The police in the 3^rd Division of the Forced Labor Camp separate newly admitted Falun Gong practitioners into different rooms and during forced brainwashing. Practitioners with firm belief continue to receive inhuman treatment:

1. Sleep deprivation.

2. Not allowed to take care of basic personal hygiene or change clothes.

3. Practitioners were not allowed to go to the bathroom. Many practitioners had no choice but to relieve themselves, and this also resulted in pain and discomfort in their bladders and kidneys.

4. We were not allowed to drink or eat for long periods of time.

5. We were forced to endure extensive physical punishment, including standing posture as a soldier (both toe and nose touching the wall), squatting down (half way), flying an airplane (facing the ground with both arms extending backwards), and marching.

6. Prison police tied up Dafa practitioners. To avoid having them cry out in pain, the police stuffed dirty rags or dirty underwear into practitioners' mouths. The prison police and collaborators (former practitioners who have turned against Dafa under pressure) surrounded a practitioner and used a specially made electric baton to strike her viciously for a long period of time. The police tied practitioners' hands from behind, hung them up by the rope, and hit them violently. The torture usually lasted a few days and nights. They did not release practitioners even after they lost consciousness. The police would wake them up and continue to hit them violently.

Ms. Kan, a practitioner from Beijing's Chaoyang District, was hung up and beaten for an extensive period of time. Her wrists were broken, and she could no longer take care of herself. She has been receiving medical treatment for a long time.

In 2002, after disappearing for quite a while, Zhang Yijie, a very dedicated practitioner finally reappeared. However, a large area of her body was badly bruised. A large portion of her face was dark purple and swollen. Her eyes were swollen shut. Prison police and collaborators shamelessly yelled, "She has done plastic surgery on herself!"

At around 1 a.m. one day in April 2002, prison police closed all the metal gates in the hallway. Policewoman Jiao Xuexian (Team lead of the 3rd Division), policewoman Huo Xiuyun, and five or six collaborators and thugs viciously tortured Dafa practitioner Lang Dongyue. They stripped off her clothes, and hit her with their fists, feet, and wooden sticks. These beasts even shamelessly used a toothbrush to sexually assault Lang Dongyue. They forcibly inserted the toothbrush into Lang's vagina, and violently forced the toothbrush in and out then scraped her inner vaginal area to cause her extreme pain. Prison police spat chewed food onto her body. Jiao Xuexian used her high-heel shoes to step on Lang again and again with all her strength. They wrote dirty words against Dafa all over Lang's body.

On one very cold morning in 2002, policewoman Jiao Xuexian (Team lead of the 3rd Division) sent all 3rd Division's prisoners to the exercise field to knit sweaters. Four hours later, when prisoners went back to their holding places, they were greeted by a mess in the room. Chicken bones and water were all over the floor. Five collaborators surrounded and hit Tao Xueling. The heater was broken. Tao's chest and stomach were injured. She could not breathe normally. Her genital area was seriously damaged. As a result, she had difficulty going to bathroom for a long time. However, these thugs (Zhang Su, Zhang Cuifen, Han Jiwei, Yao Mingming and others) were officially "recognized" and rewarded with reduced terms from the camp.

On July 15, 2002 at around 1 a.m., prison police Bo Jie, along with drug addicts Ma Jun and Tian Jing, took a diligent practitioner to an empty building to be cruelly tortured.

The Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp put those practitioners who had yielded unwillingly under extreme pressure to work at least 15 hours every day without pay. They often worked at night. In addition, the remaining time was used to psychologically torture to them. After people got up at 5:30 am, the forced labor camp announced various lies over the public address system along with prison police's abusive language to start the day.

The forced labor camp does not allow Dafa practitioners to talk freely. The camp authorities are afraid of their crimes being spread and exposed to the outside world. They strip and check practitioners' clothes every one to two weeks to search for anything suspicious.

In the forced labor camp, every Falun Gong practitioner is seriously tortured mentally and physically. The anguish they must endure defies description.

We hope that the kind people of the world will condemn and stop the persecution.

When I first heard that Wang Kemin had been passed away due to the persecution he had suffered, it was truly difficult to accept the grave news.

I met Wang Kemin in July of last year. His carefree, humorous personality and his smile made him extremely approachable. After knowing him for two months, and experiencing his selflessness and care for others, our own shortcomings became apparent. Wang Kemin was always busy with deliveries of Dafa materials, but he often thought of his fellow practitioners. At that time I was forced to leave my home due to the persecution, and did not have many personal belongings. When he noticed my disheveled clothes, he looked for clothing from other practitioners for me to wear. Although this was a small thing, it showed his great compassion.

He once related his experiences of being subjected to the persecution. To coerce him to reveal the origin of the Dafa materials, several policemen brutally beat him at the same time, and his nose was broken during the beating. Wang Kemin said, "The evil will not get a single word from me. For the sake of 'Zhen' (Truthfulness) I can give up my life. The more they beat me, the more steadfast I become. My only purpose is to uphold Dafa!"

Even when he was on hunger strike, and during his most painful hardships, Wang Kemin still tirelessly spread Dafa and clarified the truth to the prison inmates. His righteous thoughts and righteous actions, his determination for Dafa, and his character won the respect of policemen and inmates alike.

Wang Kemin often sang songs composed by Dafa practitioners when we he had some free time. His moving voice still resonates in my ears as if it was yesterday. Do not worry, my good fellow practitioner. We will steadfastly finish our sacred responsibilities of rectifying the Fa with Master!

(Clearwisdom.net) In December 1999, 32 Falun Gong practitioners in Qidong County were detained for going to Beijing to tell the government about the benefits Falun has brought to them and to ask for the right to practice openly and freely. They were brutally tortured in the Qidong Detention Center. The practitioners went to Beijing of their own free will and were not led by anyone to do so. But police officers tortured and interrogated the Dafa practitioners in order coerce them into admitting that they had executed some organized plan.

Falun Gong practitioners Deng Honghua, Chen Xiuyun, and Jiang Meiying were tortured by police officers Wang Ximin, He Zhengrong, and Li Wei for three days and nights. Their backs were injured from the beatings and swelled up, making it difficult to walk. In March 2003, Jiang Meiying was illegally detained at the County Detention Center again.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhou, in her fifties, was tortured by police officers for her firm belief in Falun Dafa. Police force-fed her heavily salted water or water with chili pepper mixed in to torture her. Her mouth was bleeding from blows to her face, and police officers stopped beating her only after she fainted. The officers then threw her into a jail cell with no concern for her life.

In 1999 Shi Jinhua, in her sixties, fell unconscious after being beaten by a police officer from the County Political and Security Section. In May 2000, a police officer from Baidi City broke Shi's wrist, causing it to swell badly. She is now able to eat with chopsticks, but the marks of the fracture are still visible on her wrist.

Police officer Zhou Youzhong beat Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Fengxiu until she was covered with injuries and lost consciousness, and then he threw her into a jail cell. When she regained consciousness, she could not eat anything for two days and nights, and was even unable to hold her chopsticks.

Police officer Zhou Daosheng used a mop handle to beat Dafa practitioners. He dipped the head of the mop into excrement, and then swiped it onto Dafa practitioner's faces, bodies, and quilts. He also poured cold water on Falun Gong practitioner's quilts and clothing, soaking them completely. Even 60-year-old seniors were not spared.

Falun Gong practitioner Liu Xuyao was once forced to kneel on a 20 cm wide by 50 cm tall concrete block and violently beaten for two hours. Even criminals who were not Dafa practitioners shed tears when they saw the atrocities Liu suffered.

In October 2000, Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Jianping was beaten by police officers until she was bruised all over and unable to move. Police frequently interrogated her. Each time she was tortured until injuries covered her body before she was sent back to her cell.

In March 2001, He Zhengrong and Li Wei from the Qidong County Political and Security Section secretly brought Falun Gong practitioner Deng Yunlu to the Jinqiao Police Station and hung him up for 7 days and nights. Deng's left hand became numb, and the flesh was cut so deeply that bone was visible. His clothes were covered in blood, and he had injuries all over his body. It took half a year for him to recover.

During that period of time, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jianbao was also persecuted. Cruel police officers beat him all over his body, and pricked his fingers and toes with needles. The beating caused a 1.5 inch long fracture to his shinbone. Blood soaked his clothes and quilt. With no medical treatment, the injury didn't stop oozing blood from time to time for a month. Liu's hands were handcuffed behind his back, and then he was hung up from the handcuffs for three days and nights. He was not given any food or water during this time. Liu has been illegally detained for over two years without any formal charges or a trial. He is still detained in the County Detention Center.

On March 14, 2001, to protest the cruel persecution, the illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners went on a hunger strike together. Police officers bound their arms and then dragged them out of the jail to be force-fed. Police officers fed Dafa practitioners with chili powder, chili pepper water, or heavily salted water. The event shocked the Hengyang City government. Afraid of taking responsibilities for causing the deaths of Dafa practitioners, evil police officers promised not to torture Dafa practitioners any more, but they later continued their cruel behavior as usual.

In 2002, Dafa practitioner Kuang Su'e was tortured to death by savage police officers in Qidong County. To hide the truth, the police claimed that she had died in a car accident, and paid her family 30,000 Yuan* while threatening them not to say anything about the death. Kuang is the second Qidong Dafa practitioner to be tortured to death. The first one was Guan Chaosheng, who was tortured to death by police officers in Beijing.

Because of their firm belief in Dafa, over 200 Dafa practitioners in Qidong County were extorted an average of 3,000 Yuan each in fines.

Currently, there are still at least 113 Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained in the county. They are not sentenced to jail or sent to forced labor camps; but are detained like this with no time limit. Among them 33 were male, 80 were female, and their average age was 51. They paid a total of 547,812 Yuan in fines

According to incomplete statistics, at least 15 male and 16 female Dafa practitioners are being illegally imprisoned in the county. Their average age is 49. They have paid a total of 223,204 Yuan in fines, and some of them have been detained for as long as four years.

The crimes committed by police officers in Qidong County while persecuting Falun Gong practitioners are innumerable. Once this dark period has passed, the officers will be held accountable for their actions.

In October 2000, Chongqing City's Xishanping Forced Labor Camp specifically set up the No. 1 Team within the No. 7 Division to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Inmates were chosen by guards to serve as "education aids." Guards were promoted and financially rewarded if they made an extra effort to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. "Education aids" were rewarded financially or by reduced sentences if they worked hard to persecute Dafa practitioners. Every Dafa practitioner illegally imprisoned here was assigned 2-10 fixed "education aids" to watch over and monitor them 24 hours a day. Also, guards have arranged additional hired men.

There are about 15 people imprisoned in a 20-square-meter room, where people eat, drink, sleep and go to the bathroom. Beds are 0.8 meter wide. Each "education aid" has a bed, while two Falun Gong practitioners share a bed. The toilet bucket is located right next to beds. Sometimes, Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to use the toilet for an entire day. When Dafa practitioners walk outside, two "education aids" will walk by their side, while other aids press their heads down.

On December 19, 2001, Falun Gong practitioner Cao Xuanlu, 48 years old, refused to wear the forced labor camp uniform. Division Chief Hu Hong, Political Chief Tian Xing, team leader Liu Hua, staff Gao Ding and more than 20 prison staff members ordered "education aids" Deng Ping, He Weidong, Dan Ming, Xing Gongwen, Xu Feng and others to violently beat Cao until he was in critical condition. He was sent to the prison hospital emergency room. Cao regained consciousness 60 hours later in the hospital.

On January 9, 2002, Cao was taken back to his team by staff member Li Qiwei. The next day, Political Chief Xiao and two "education aids" dragged him back to the hospital. Cao was covered with injuries, blood and mud. He received 13 stitches in his head at the hospital.

One day later, while Cao was still unconscious, the forced labor camp authorities informed him that his jail term was extended for two months, to a total of 11 months.

On December 19, 2001, Chongqing Petroleum Equipment Company retired employee Xue Junhe, a 66-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, protested the torture. Prison guard Liu Hua screamed, "Not only will we persecute you, we will hit you hard. Take him out." Chen Shengyu, Xing Gongwen and two "education aids" dragged Xue to the center of the yard immediately. Right after Xue said, "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa," the "education aids" took off Xue's shoes and socks, and stuffed the socks into his mouth. Xue's lips were cut, and he was forced face down into the ground. Two people were holding down Xue's head with their feet, two people were holding his neck, four were holding his arms and four were pressing his legs. Xue was brutally tortured, and his right elbow was fractured.

Every time the forced labor camp was preparing to force feed Falun Gong practitioners on hunger strike, some "education aids" would urinate in the bucket containing milk, which would be used to force feed Dafa practitioners. Xue's nose bled badly from the force-feeding.

On December 19, 2001, Zhang Shengquan, a 43-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Guanan County, refused to wear the uniform marked "forced labor" in order to protest the persecution. Under the instruction of prison guards, "education aids" Chen Shengyu, Zhang Peng, Xing Gongwen, Wu Yin, Xu Chengyong and others brutally tortured Zhang. His ribcage and heart were damaged seriously, which led to internal bleeding. He was sent to a hospital emergency room. Zhang was later brought back to his team before he had fully recovered. Because he clarified the truth again, one of his front teeth were broken, and three others were knocked out, and one of the toes on his left foot was badly injured. Later, Zhang was pressured to write the "Three Statements"* (Repentance Statement, Guarantee Statement and Dissociation Statement), but he refused. After that, prison guards and "education aids" used all means to abuse and torture him. He was not allowed to use the bathroom for an entire day and deprived of sleep for a number of days.

On February 20, 2002, Lu Jianjun, a 26-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Dianjiang County, was asked to read a book that slanders Falun Gong. Lu refused to read and pointed out the lies in the book. Immediately, "education aids" Peng Daiyou, Lai Zhaohui, Xu Lin, Zhou Min and others tortured him brutally. His entire body was covered with bruises, his face was swollen and distorted, and his left eye was black and couldn't see anything. In the afternoon, there were visitors from the judiciary system at the forced labor camp. The prison officials, as well as division and team leaders, hid from sight Lu and other Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured in the past.

Zhang Quanliang is a Falun Gong practitioner from the Chongqing Dadukou District. His toenails were injured and fell off during beatings. Except for his face and hands, his entire body was covered with injuries, with new wounds on top of the old. In the past two years, prison guards frequently tried to wear him down by giving him little or no food, calling it "hunger therapy."

In Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province, 16 female practitioners (Cai Guirong, Luo Wei, Kong Lingzhi, Yuan Liqin, Wang Yulan, Li Yulan, Liu Lixiang, Li Yuzhen, Meng Qingrong, Yu Chunzhen, Li Shufen, Guan Fengying, Wang Shuxian, Xu Yunling, and others) were illegally abducted by the police from the Jidong Detention Center for publishing facts about the persecution on the Internet. On April 24, they were illegally sentenced to forced labor for 1 to 3 years. They are now being detained in the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center.

Six male practitioners from Jidong (Ren Shouzhi, Mu Defu, Zhang Yunlong, Meng Dehui, Huo Fengqi, and Jia) were also illegally abducted and illegally sentenced to forced labor. They are now being detained in Jixi City's Labor Camp.

On April 2, Jidong County practitioner Guo Changyu's residence was surrounded tightly by police from the Hengshan police station in Jixi City. The police climbed up to 7^th floor on a long ladder and entered her home through the window and took her away. She is now being detained in the Number Two Detention Center, Jixi City.

Statement by the Press Secretary

Hong Kong's Legislative Council Is in the final stages of considering internal security legislation mandated by Article 23 of the territory's Basic Law. A final vote may occur as soon as early July. The United States has concerns that Article 23 legislation, as currently drafted, could harm local freedoms and autonomy over time. Especially worrisome are provisions mandating the proscription of certain kinds of popular organizations and the absence of a "public interest" defense to protect freedom of expression and the press. The United States urges Hong Kong's Legislative Council to adopt amendments to correct these shortcomings.

Hong Kong's special status, endorsed by the United States under the Hong Kong Policy Act, depends on the local authorities' protection of human and civil rights and preservation of the territory's autonomy. The United States opposes any law that threatens the territory's unique identity, including the current version of Article 23 legislation.

The controversy surrounding the legislation underlines the importance of Hong Kong's move toward full participatory democracy. Like Article 23, universal suffrage is enshrined in the Basic Law, and Hong Kong's leaders should now pursue it with equal industry.

Thank you for contacting me regarding legal action taken against former Chinese Premier Jiang Zemin.

Like you, I continue to be distressed by the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the government of China.  As you know, last October Falun Gong practitioners served members of the entourage of Jiang Zemin with notice of a lawsuit against him based on the 1976 Alien Tort Claims Act and the Torture Victim Protection Act.  Soon thereafter, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit pending in Northern District Court of Illinois.  Rep. Lantos submitted an Amicus Curae brief on behalf of the Falun Gong claimants to counter the DOJ motion in early June.  I am hopeful of a favorable finding by the District Court.

I had the opportunity to raise the issue of Chinese repression of Falun Gong on a visit I made to the country in April of 2002.  Though I did not receive a satisfactory answer to my inquiry, I have continued to press the Chinese government on the issue.  In the 107th Congress, I cosponsored two Congressional Resolutions (H. Con. Res. 188 and H. Con. Res. 447) calling on the Chinese government to end the persecution of members of the Falun Gong movement.  More recently, I cosigned a letter to the Chinese ambassador calling on the Chinese government to release U.S. citizen Charles Li, a Falun Gong practitioner.

I will continue to do everything I can to protect the human rights of people in China and every country which has a record of abuse.

(Clearwisdom.net June 23, 2003) On June 21, Falun Dafa practitioners in South Australia continued to hold activities in Victoria Square in the City of Adelaide, capital of the State of South Australia, to support bringing the dictator Jiang to justice. Dafa practitioners collected signatures and exposed the crimes the Jiang regime committed in persecuting Falun Gong.

Amid the rain and cold wind, Dafa practitioners sat peacefully on wet grass, continuously sending forth righteous thoughts and demonstrating Dafa exercises. Many passersby were deeply moved. Some signed their names on the petition on their own initiative, and some expressed appreciation by holding Heshi position. A Taiwanese exclaimed, "You do not move even in this bad rain and wind. You are truly great. I will get a Zhuan Falun book once I return to Taiwan."

As the interference from other dimensions is eliminated, more and more sentient beings are finding out about the truth of Dafa. We hope that more people will understand the crimes committed by Jiang regime and position themselves well in this battle between goodness and evil.

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, we went to demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises and tell people about the lawsuit against Jiang in an area of Paris that is frequented by Chinese people. It was the first time that we had demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises there, and the public was very enthusiastic about it. As soon as we started to set up the banners, people stopped to ask for leaflets.

A lot of people felt that they would like to know more about Falun Gong; they expressed their anger at the persecution of peaceful practitioners, which was instigated by Jiang Zemin. Many young people learned the exercises and talked of their wish to practice Dafa. There were a lot of people who put their name and signature onto the petition, many of whom came from China. Some young Mainland Chinese expressed their anger at Jiang's horrific violations of human rights.

The peaceful Dafa music and atmosphere attracted a lot of passers-by. An older woman said, "Here in this street block we are in need of more people like you. If all young people were as quiet as you when you practice the sitting mediation, how wonderful that would be!"

Many young Chinese people stopped for more than an hour to talk to us, ask some questions, watch the Falun Gong exercise demonstration, sign the petition, and get to know more about the truth behind Jiang's persecution. They were enjoying themselves so much, that they forgot the time and were late going back home! After hearing the truth about Falun Gong, one Chinese lady said, "I'll take some of your materials and I'd like to speak to my parents about Falun Gong and the persecution in China."

As time went on, more and more people came. Practitioners told the truth peacefully, which enabled us to speak to people from many different social groups. They were worried about the conditions in China and gave their support for the lawsuit against Jiang.

(Clearwisdom.net) The summer months in Finland have arrived and, as usual, this has resulted in numerous different festivals and events taking place around the country. This provides many good opportunities for practitioners to introduce Falun Dafa to the Finnish people, and inform them of the recent developments around the world regarding Falun Gong, such as the genocide lawsuits against the Chinese dictator, Jiang Zemin. Below are a few stories from a couple of events Finnish practitioners have attended so far.

From April 25th to 27th, The Ostrobothnian Trade Fair was held in Vaasa. Finnish practitioners participated throughout the three days, and introduced Falun Dafa to the people attending the fair. Thousands of people witnessed the peacefulness of Falun Dafa, and had a chance to learn about the practice and issues relating to the persecution of in China.

On May 17th and 18th, an event called "The World Village Festival" was held in Helsinki. The purpose of the festival was to "offer a window on multicultural Finland" and to provide the visitors a chance to "find out about a broad range of development and global issues" from "150 NGOs that will be on hand to introduce visitors to a vast range of concerns, including different cultures, development work, globalization, human rights, etc." So this was a perfect opportunity to tell more people about the unlawful persecution of Falun Gong in China. Lots of people were fascinated by the exercises and peaceful atmosphere that was surrounding the Falun Gong practitioners' stall. They wanted to know more and practitioners later received many phone calls asking about local practice sites, where people can learn the Falun Gong exercises for free.

On June 14th, Finnish Falun Gong practitioners gathered in Turku to introduce Falun Dafa at the central market square. Throughout the day, many passers-by stopped by and formed a large crowd. People watched the practitioners performing the exercises, and read the large information boards about Falun Gong, and the persecution in China. Many people signed the petition and expressed how they found such a persecution inconceivable.

(Clearwisdom.net) On 21 June 2003, practitioners in Sweden held a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese consulate to support the lawsuit that charges Jiang with acts of genocide, crimes against humanity and crimes of torture. The sufferings inflicted by Jiang on innocent law-abiding citizens in China are not only a grave offense to the Chinese people, but also the people of the free world. As Dafa practitioners, we bear no hatred for being mistreated but our legal actions are essential to bringing a halt to Jiang's evil deeds and to make the world a better place. Every country has a legal and moral cause to allow its national court to put Jiang to trial.

Meanwhile, more than a thousand Dafa practitioners held a festive parade in Chicago's Chinatown to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the world.

On Saturday, June 21, in the grand procession in Chicago's Chinatown, three young practitioners' dance performance attracted many passersby. The young practitioners continued to dance all the way to the parade's end point. Originally it was not planned for them to go so far, but they happily danced the entire way.

On Friday, June 20, during the two performances held at Federal Plaza and Thompson Center, young practitioners performed a lively dance. They came from three different states in the Midwest, but they formed a wonderful team. They only had time to prepare for a few days, but it turned out wonderfully. During those days, they played together, rehearsed together, and read Zhuan Falun together.

In the two-day activity, they won a lot of warm praise from spectators, and through their lively and beautiful dance, they left a strong impression of the beauty of Falun Dafa in people's hearts.

(Clearwisdom.net) On Friday, June 20, 2003, nearly 2000 Dafa practitioners from more than 30 countries around the world, including Asia, Europe, Australia and North America gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Chicago to do the exercises and send righteous thoughts. They also held two large-scale artistic performances at Federal Plaza and Thompson Center, displaying the beauty and peacefulness of Falun Dafa to the public.

Dafa practitioners from around the world gave some wonderful performances, a children's song and dance, traditional Chinese folk musical instrumental performance, Western practitioner's singing songs composed by Dafa practitioners in Chinese, and other beautiful dances, attracting many passersby to stop and enjoy the performance.

A young man said that he admired the practitioners' efforts in bringing such beautiful performances to entertain the community. He also thanked practitioners for informing the American community of the news of the persecution of Falun Gong in China so that more people would learn about the horrific persecution. Another man listened to the Erhu performance and acclaimed, "It's really marvelous, really marvelous!" He also said that he hoped our activities could help end the persecution in China. When DC practitioners in elegant Tang Dynasty costumes performed the exercises, practitioners who distributed Dafa literature and materials took the opportunity to introduce the exercises to the passersby. People were eager to accept the Dafa materials. One person said that he had three Chinese friends and wanted to take some materials for them. A couple had a long conversation with a practitioner, who told them about the lawsuit against Jiang, the illegal detention of American citizen Charles Li, and Jiang regime's expanding the persecution to overseas. They were shocked and angry upon hearing about what was going on. The couple was attracted by practitioners' peaceful and graceful exercises demonstration, and they prepared to find a practice site to learn the exercises. A practitioner said that when she saw so many kind-hearted people happily accepting Dafa truth-clarifying materials, tears welled up in her eyes. An elderly gentleman from Hunan Province watched our performances for quite some time. At the beginning, when a practitioner wanted to talk to him, he waved his hands and avoided the practitioner. After he watched the performance for a while, the practitioner once again introduced Falun Dafa to him and told him about the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" that Falun Gong practitioners follow, and that Falun Gong is teaching people to be good. This time, the elderly gentleman nodded his head again and again.

At the calligraphy booth, two practitioners from Australia wrote Chinese names for passersby, who showed great interest. The margins of the paper were imprinted with messages in English, "Falun Dafa is good," "Practiced by more than 100 million people, " and Dafa websites. After finishing the calligraphy of people's names, the practitioners imprinted the paper with a lotus flower seal. The people who got it were quite happy. A practitioner from Sweden handed out Dafa literature and clarified the truth to those who were waiting for the calligraphy. A young man wanted to sign his name to call for the end of the persecution. Practitioners told him that it was a pity that they did not prepare a signature collection book, but he could find one with the practitioners in front of the Chinese Consulate. The young man immediately said that he would go to the Chinese Consulate to sign his name.

Falun Gong practitioners from more than 30 countries around the world, one after another, came to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago to send forth righteous thoughts in support of the lawsuit against Jiang. At 6:00 p.m., nearly a thousand practitioners joined in sending righteous thoughts. Many of them came directly from the airport or rode more than 10 hours in overnight buses. They were of different ages, ethnicities and different walks of life. The scene was magnificent and touching.

The practitioners peacefully practiced the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, demonstrating to people the Falun Gong practitioners' unyielding perseverance. The Practitioners sat in front of the Chinese Consulate and surrounding sidewalks. A huge poster with photos of Falun Gong practitioners in China who have been tortured to death over the past four years was set up right opposite the main gate of the Consulate.

Practitioners also held large banners, stating, "Bring Jiang to Justice Globally," "Put Jiang on Trial," and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong." The scene was spectacular and solemn. The practitioners distributed a large number of Dafa flyers to the citizens of Chicago regarding the lawsuit against Jiang.

Musical groups from France and around the world bring different styles of music, dancing to music halls, performance centers, churches and streets. The festival has gained more and more popularity. This year the festival is reaching many cities around the world.

French Falun Dafa practitioners also participated in this year's music festival and demonstrated beautiful Chinese traditional dances and the Falun Dafa exercises.

Practitioners also took the opportunity to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and collect signatures to support the global lawsuit against Chinese former dictator Jiang. The scene was peaceful and benevolent. Many festival-goers, including police on duty, offered their ideas and made suggestions. Many people expressed their appreciation to the practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net) Through deeply studying the Fa I realized that under any circumstance when we are facing the evil, as long as we have righteous thoughts and actions, the evil cannot do a single thing to us. The following is a discussion on a few things that I have experienced.

In late March 2002 I re-established contact with fellow practitioners and returned to the Fa-rectification after my release from a forced labor camp. One day in early April, as I was on my way out of my apartment to distribute a full load of Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, I happened to encounter the secretary general of that street's residential office. This person usually would work together with the local police station to harass Dafa practitioners.

At the sight of me, he rushed over for a chat to try to persuade me to give up cultivation. Calmly but firmly I told him, "Falun Gong is most righteous. Sooner or later, the situation will turn around and Dafa's good name will be restored. Everything we do has to be completely up to our conscience. What do you say to that?" His face darkened, and while his mouth moved, he did not utter any words.

In mid April, the local police station learned that I had returned to my residence. Several times the neighborhood committee notified me to report to the police station. Meanwhile, I heard from fellow practitioners that the police station would demand that we sign a guarantee letter to stop practicing or we would be detained. I tried to ignore their summons to the police station.. One day the chairman of the neighborhood committee again came to find me. Suddenly it dawned on me that I should go to the police station and use the opportunity to tell them the facts about Falun Gong; I am a Dafa practitioner and I should fear no evil, as Master is with me and the Fa is with me.

On our way to the police station, I clarified the facts of the staged self-immolation tragedy on Tiananmen Square to the neighborhood committee chairman and told him of the atrocious persecution Falun Gong practitioners endure in the labor reeducation camps. Upon our arrival, the police station director greeted us with unusual courtesy and asked me if I still practiced Falun Gong or not. I told him more facts about Dafa. Although he pretended to try to get me to stop talking, it was obvious that he was listening with great interest. After I clarified the truth for a while, the police station director commented: "Fine. I asked you a simple question and you almost convert me! You may go home and from now on you don't need to come here." I walked out with my head held high.

At the end of August, I was detained for leaving town to attend a Fa conference. I was sent to the police station, where I went on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful arrest. On the second day they interrogated me. I refused to answer any questions but told them that as a citizen, I should be free to travel without needing to get permission. Finally I explained to them the heavenly law that goodness is rewarded and evil provokes retribution. The police station director interrupted my talk and said, "I cannot handle you practitioners. Alright, let's stop here." So that's how the interrogation ended.

The above are only some experiences I've had during my cultivation. If there is anything improper, fellow practitioners please compassionately correct me.

(Clearwisdom.net Report on June 12) I am a Dafa practitioner who has left home and gone from place to place to avoid the persecution. Near the end of 2001, I went to Beijing to validate Dafa. Later, I was illegally sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp. On the way there, and while in the camp, I told everyone I met the truth about the persecution. At the end of my short stay, my physical condition was specified as "not qualified," so the police sent me back home.

On May 19, 2002, I was abducted and taken to a detention center. The police from that detention center escorted me back to the Masanjia Labor Camp. On the way, I refused to cooperate with the evil. I continued speaking out about the facts about Falun Gong and shouting "Falun Dafa is good." I had made up my mind that I must get out of Masanjia just as I had the last time. In the end, with the help of righteous thoughts, the police officers drove me back home. Afterward, the officials frequently visited my home to extort money from me. Without a choice, I left home and worked part-time in other cities for my living.

After one year of going from place to place, and since my two children missed me so much, I went home to visit them. Unfortunately, the police saw me and took me to the detention center. As the police officers carried me into the detention center, I shouted out, "Falun Dafa is good! Restore Falun Dafa's reputation! Restore Teacher's reputation!" My voice shook the whole detention center. I refused to sign on any of their forms, and I told the director of the detention center that he should not detain me there. If he did, I would not eat a crumb of bread nor drink a drop of water.

A few days later, the police officers asked some of the other practitioners to talk to me and persuade me to eat. I immediately said, "This is not a place where I should stay." I clarified the truth to the police on duty by exposing the lies about Falun Dafa. I answered every one of their questions. Finally, they knew the truth. I told them to remember, "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" and "Falun Dafa is good." They said they would remember and thanked me.

Time passed. On the fifth day, I said to myself, "Dafa disciples should not be in a place like this. I must get out of here." That morning, I began vomiting blood. By noon, several police officers came over, saying that they were going to send me to Masanjia Labor Camp. I didn't say anything, but sent forth righteous thoughts. I thought that I would never allow the evil to persecute me and I would never go to Masanjia. Then I heard someone say, "What's the point of sending her to Masanjia? People already tried twice and each time she was refused. She had a fever of 38.5 degrees C. (about 101 degrees F.). If you don't believe me, try and measure it." The police officers touched my forehead and it was very hot. They were afraid, and asked me to eat some food. I thought of Teacher's words,

With such thoughts, I didn't feel thirsty and hungry any more. I thought I should keep going. I recited Teacher's "Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Action:"

"A Great Enlightened Being does not fear hardship

Having forged an adamantine will

And with no attachment to living or dying

He walks his path of Fa-rectification openly and nobly"

On the sixth day, in the afternoon, police officers came and asked me to go home. They also brought my daughter to pick me up. They said they would never interfere with me again. "You can go home now." They also said apologetically, "Please don't hate us. We will not disturb you any more." Then, they drove us back home.

I was held in a detention center for more than two months because I insisted on practicing Falun Gong; I was then sent to a psychiatric hospital. The doctor there ordered me to take some medication. When I refused, two doctors held me down and forcibly injected me with drugs. I fell unconscious and did not wake up until the next day, when they forced me to take medicine again. Every practitioner detained there was forced to take medicine three times per day. There was a doctor assigned to each practitioner. The doctor who was assigned to watch me was the dean of the hospital. He gave me fourteen pills per day, and he sometimes forced me to take eighteen pills per day. When it was time to take the medicine, I would recite Dafa in my mind, and every time I only swallowed the water without swallowing the pills. There were two practitioners who knew that we were detained there; they brought us Teacher's articles, books, truth clarifying materials and the Minghui.net editorial entitled "About Psychotropics" (Please see http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2000/11/25/6025.html). After seeing Teacher's articles, I felt like I had seen Teacher. We memorized the article "Expounding on the Fa." Another practitioner was sent to this psychiatric hospital at this time, so we recited Teacher's articles and poems together; we also continued to clarify the truth to hospital staff. They knew that we were good people. I stayed in the psychiatric hospital for twenty-two days, and with Teacher's help I endured all these hardships and was released. Then I went right back into the current of clarifying the truth.

Sometimes I went out alone or with other practitioners to clarify the truth, hanging banners on telephone poles and trees along the road. A lot of people saw the words "Falun Dafa is good," and they said that practitioners are really capable of doing a lot: everywhere you looked you saw Dafa's banners.

In November of 2001, I went to Beijing to peacefully appeal again; I sent forth righteous thoughts at all times. At Qianmen in Beijing, I said, "Falun Dafa is good" in front of a large crowd. When I arrived at the gateway to Tiananmen Square, I raised a small banner. Seeing my actions, two people who were taking pictures there said that they knew about "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." When I reached the Jinshui Bridge in front of Tiananmen Square, five or six plainclothes policemen surrounded me, and asked for my personal identification and where I was from. I did not pay attention to them, but the plainclothes policemen would not let me go; then I recalled Teacher's article "What Are Supernormal Abilities." Therefore I said, "Stand still" to a policeman who was following behind me, and I was able to escape from them. The next day, I used a small stone to anchor a small banner by the pond in front of the People's Gathering Hall, and sent out righteous thoughts to prevent anyone from interfering with it; then I walked away to the west. A policeman approached me. I was afraid of him and ran away without even sending forth righteous thoughts. Two other policemen blocked my path, searched my backpack, and asked me where I came from. At that moment, I remembered to send forth righteous thoughts. As soon as I sent forth righteous thoughts, the three policemen returned my backpack. I then continued sending forth righteous thoughts and walked back in the direction I came from. Later, I hung another small banner on a fence pole on the east side of Qianmen and then safely returned home.

Righteous thoughts at the time of danger

Three practitioners went to a small town to distribute the Fa-clarification flyers, CD's, and cards. They handed out the materials to the people as they walked by. A young man stopped them suddenly and wanted to take them to the police station.

Pretty soon they were surrounded by a crowd. One of the practitioners spoke loudly: "Listen. Let me finish my speech. Then you can take us to wherever you want to. Take us to Beijing if you like."

She began telling them how she began to practice Falun Gong, how the Fa changed her, why Dafa is being persecuted, and how practitioners have risked their lives to clarify the truth. She talked for half an hour.

The spectators were fascinated, many of them asking for Dafa materials. The materials were gone in a minute. At this time, an elderly man told the practitioners quietly: "You've accomplished your objectives here. Why don't you leave quickly! We have been asked to report if we see any Falun Gong flyer, and we will be punished if we don't."

The practitioners were very grateful. They asked the young man who tried to arrest them earlier: "Didn't you want to take us away? Shall we go?" The young man was embarrassed and said: "It was just a joke, you can go." This way, the three practitioners left the place calmly in stride.

The Weight of 100 Yuan Coins

We received a package, in which there are rolls of coins. It was money saved for Dafa materials by a young practitioner who is less than 10 years old, and he told us that we must take the money. Holding these coins weighing four or five pounds, I had no words to express my feeling.

To express support for rescuing Charles Li and the historic heroic undertaking of suing Jiang in a U.S. federal court, Falun Gong practitioners in Korea have, one after another, stepped out into the streets and clarified the truth to the public.

A practitioner decorated his car with the three characters, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," on the front of the car, and with "Falun Dafa Cultivation Practice" and contact phone numbers on both sides. In his car, there are always materials clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in various languages. No matter where he went, such as gas stations, road maintenance fee stations and other spots, he always politely handed a sheet of truth-clarifying material to whomever he met. Every time a big truth-clarifying activity took place, this practitioner always drove his car to help.

To clarify the truth to the public in a more effective way utilizing audiovisual equipment, another practitioner bought a big-screen projector. Starting out at 5:00 am, he and other fellow practitioners would drive to construction sites, employment agencies, subway stations, streets in Chinatown and other Chinese neighborhoods to play video tapes, hand out flyers and demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises in the morning before people started work. In the afternoon after work, they quickly ate a light meal and started out again. The practitioners found that many Chinese people were now starting to understand Falun Gong in a positive way. Furthermore, on the streets of Chinatown, where we had visited before, there were many people who needed truth-clarifying materials, and some of them wanted to learn to practice Falun Gong.

After seeing how we clarified the truth, a practitioner who came here from Mainland China not long ago was touched and encouraged. From then on, he always went with us to do the exercises and pass out flyers before work in the morning and after work in the afternoon.

One night, a Chinese gentleman became very upset after watching our videotape "Witness." With tears glittering in his eyes, he said in anger, "I had heard before that the Chinese government was persecuting Falun Gong, but I didn't take it seriously. I could not have imagined that it is so cruel. Too cruel! It is too cruel!" He continued full of emotion, "Who would not be touched in the heart after seeing the persecution?" He also told us that he has a relative working at a police station in China, and he was going to tell her never to get involved in persecuting Falun Gong and doing anything to commit offenses against Heaven no matter what the reason. Before leaving us, he took some truth-clarifying materials and DVDs in order to tell his relatives and friends the facts about Falun Gong.

After coming to know the truth, a Korean citizen said angrily, "Such a good practice and people love it! People outside of China can enjoy the freedom to practice it. Why should the Chinese government suppress it? It is incredible! It must be horrific to be in a country without human rights."

Previously, Sundays were reserved for our collective Fa-study. After sharing experiences, practitioners in Seoul realized that we always set aside some time for calm-hearted Fa-study everyday, while it is a rare chance for us to get together on Sundays. During this key period while Jiang is being sued, we'd better go out on Sundays to clarify the truth to the public. Because we are in the time of validating the Fa, our purpose for studying the Fa and obtaining the Fa is to help Teacher to rectify the Fa and save sentient beings. From that time on, practitioners in Seoul, together with practitioners from other areas, have been going to the major tourist spots to practice the Falun Gong exercises, introduce Dafa, and clarify the truth every Sunday. Whenever we set up our poster boards, hang up our big banner about the lawsuit against Jiang and do the exercises together, we always attract a lot of people. Then, our practitioners waste no time telling the tourists about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and the Jiang regime's illegal detention and abuse of American citizen Charles Li. Many kind people signed one after another on the signature collection sheets to show their support for rescuing Charles Li and for suing Jiang.

Now, every true practitioner doesn't wait or rely on others. Everyone is validating the Fa in his or her own way. At the same time, many practitioners have continued to improve themselves. As they continuously correct their mistakes, they are able to clearly sense and identify the problems existing among practitioners as a whole. They may sometimes give some suggestions to others with a kind heart, or just silently supplement what fellow practitioners are already doing. Their purpose is for our practitioners as a whole to catch up with the process of Fa-rectification, and we can fully utilize the strength of our practitioners as a whole.

Being short of time, some practitioners have made use of their mornings and nights to clarify the truth. In order to save more time for Fa-study, many practitioners bought a portable tape recorder to make it convenient to listen to Teacher's Fa lectures when taking a bus or walking. At the same time, everybody knows that he must find some time everyday to sit down and study the Fa with a calm heart. This is because, as Teacher told us,

"No matter how busy you are or how many things you have to do, you can't neglect your own Fa study and cultivation. It's the fundamental guarantee that you will be able to do things related to validating the Fa well. It's also a guarantee that you'll be able to make it to the last step" (Lecturing on and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference).

Let me start with a small incident at home. The metal strip in the doorway between the kitchen and the living area in my apartment started to curl up. It was getting worse and worse, and both my wife and I tripped on it several times, barely managing not to fall. So I called the landlord, "A metal strip on our floor has curled up and needs repair." But even though I called three times in three weeks, nothing happened. The fourth time I called the landlord I said, "A metal strip on our floor has curled up, and my wife and I have almost tripped and fallen several times." Within fifteen minutes a repairman arrived and solved the problem that had troubled us for a month.

In retrospect, the difference between the last call and the previous ones lies in the severity and urgency that was conveyed. This reminds me of the on-going lawsuit against Jiang. Whether judged on the basis of Fa-rectification, or on the principles of ordinary human society, we do have a strong case. Due to Jiang's lies and enticements, however, people have interfered with this case. This is indeed worth our further consideration. There might be some practitioners complaining about these people and wondering how come, in spite of the many facts that have been presented to them, they still do not understand the situation.

As practitioners, we are quite clear that, whenever there is a problem, this is where we need to further clarify the truth. For example, we may need to present more facts to the Justice Department and the State Department. Also, people in ordinary human society tend to focus on their immediate interests, and are prone to being misled by all kinds of lies and promises, resulting in their being used by the old forces. This is also a case of the old forces taking advantage of our not presenting sufficient facts to those who are being misled. We need to comprehensively and systematically explain the nature of the persecution to people in the Justice and State Departments, and while not simply dwelling on the lawsuit itself, convince them that the positions they take are fundamental to their own interests as well as the interests of the Chinese people. Then their decisions will be genuine choices based on all the facts.

It has been reported that thirty-eight members of the U.S. Congress have filed an Amicus brief with the U.S. District Court. This is the result of our presenting the facts to the various members of Congress. It's worth noting that the three branches of government are separated in the United States. The executive branch, the legislative branch (Congress), and the judicial branch (including the Supreme Court) each has its own roles and are independent from each other, with necessary coordination and cooperation. Support from the members of the U.S. Congress only indicates that many congressmen and congresswomen in the legislative branch have come to an understanding of the truth. As a matter of fact, not everything has turned out perfectly even in the legislative branch, not only because of the pressing schedule but also because of the falsehoods and promises from Jiang's regime. We should not have the idea that we can take a break in our efforts in this area. In addition, we need to have a greater sense of urgency in clarifying the truth to Justice and State Department officials. To achieve the best results it is best to clarify the truth comprehensively and systematically, and avoid limiting ourselves to the lawsuit alone.

As practitioners we need to realize that truth-clarifying opportunities related to the lawsuit against Jiang don't come along frequently. Our ultimate goal is not how this case evolves but to let more people understand the facts about Falun Gong and to be compassionate towards them.

I am not personally engaged in clarifying the truth to the government. Like most fellow practitioners, I have only been playing a supporting role when presenting important facts to local government officials and legislative members. In the past I was simply following the example of others. This time, with regard to the lawsuit against Jiang, I have noticed a big difference between just completing a relevant task, and completing the task by putting all my heart and soul into it. The results have been dramatically different as well. When we write letters, make phone calls, or otherwise contact government officials, we can, more often than not, briefly share our own experiences. The listener more easily accepts those heartfelt words. If we all realize at the outset that Falun Dafa practitioners are helping to save the people and that we are helping officials of the U.S. government to reach a general understanding of the truth, we can better help them understand the urgency and importance of their taking a just approach. We should not simply pin our hopes on certain ordinary people in the government, or focus only on the immediate results. Of course, when people have come to see the truth, yet still help the evil forces out of consideration for their own personal interests, then that is their personal choice. We are compassionate toward others, and if someone is not willing to be saved, we should not be attached to any desire for results, nor should we become disappointed or dissatisfied.

Teacher has told us, "Human society is a good place for cultivation, since everything here can lead to attachments. Precisely because of this, a person who is able to step out of it and get rid of all his attachments to human society is magnificent and is able to reach Consummation." Hundreds of people have gathered outside Parliament House in Canberra to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

Falun Dafa is the practice of ancient exercises and meditation and has been banned in China since 1989.

During that time, it is estimated up to 500 practitioners have been tortured to death and 20,000 have been sent to labor camps.

Democratic leader Andrew Bartlett this afternoon launched a campaign to help rescue family members imprisoned in China.

GENEVA -- Three Falun Gong practitioners held a banner in front of Geneva City Hall Thursday, seeking help to rescue a California doctor being held in China.

"SOS: Urgent Rescue of U.S. Citizen Dr. Li Persecuted in China," read the banner held by Chen Hou and his wife, Sara Effner of Missouri, and Jiwu Wang, of Kentucky.
Li is from China but is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He returned to China to challenge the country's stand on Falun Gong and intended to tap into the state-run cable broadcast to prove his case. He was arrested Jan. 22 at Guangzhou airport and sentenced to three years in the Nanjin Prison.

Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, is a meditative practice [that the Chinese government suppresses]. Practitioners say the government crackdown is a violation of human rights.

"We want to raise awareness of Falun Gong and Dr. Li," Effner said. The three were part of several teams of supporters who stopped in Kane and McHenry county cities this week.
Falun Gong followers are known for meditative public exercises and dedication to nonviolence. The Chinese government, however, [fabricated stories to defame Falun Gong].

Wang said Chinese Communists eventually rejected Falun Gong because they reject any spiritual belief.

Wang said Li had proof that the government fabricated the immolation and planned to tap into its cable system to present the counterpoint to Chinese citizens directly.

"From 1992 to 1999, the Chinese government promoted Falun Gong," Wang said. "They gave awards to it and encouraged people to do the exercises because 90 percent of the people who practiced would be cured of illness."

Effner, 26, was one of 70 practitioners from 13 countries who were arrested for performing the exercises publicly in Tiananmen Square as a public protest of the government crackdown.

"I was detained a day. President Bush was going there and they did not want 70 people in jail with the president there," Effner said. The government gave her an airplane ticket home.

"We are not against the government or the Communist Party," Hou, 27, said. "We just want peaceful practice of Falun Gong."

Human rights groups acknowledge that Falun Gong followers have been tortured and killed in China. Supporters of Li say he has been beaten and tortured while in prison.
Li returned to China knowing that he might be arrested much the same way Martin Luther King Jr. went to jail in Birmingham, Ala., seeking civil rights for blacks.
"He is a very kind person to take such a chance," Effner said.

Rotorua Falun Dafa followers staged a peaceful demonstration during the week to raise the awareness of the ongoing action overseas concerning the exercise and belief regimen.

Falun Dafa is a regimen that works on the beliefs of truth compassion and tolerance with exercise positions similar to position used in Tai Chi and yoga.

Protesters all over the world are fighting for the rights of Falun Dafa followers in China who are being prosecuted for practicing the regimen.

The regimen was banned in China in 1999 and has been a hot topic ever since.

Chinese communist Party leader Jiang Zemin ruled Falun Gong illegal, and those who practiced the regimen would be imprisoned and tortured.

Followers have died and been tortured for the cause, and thousands of people throughout the world are attempting to stop the ongoing punishment, local Falun Dafa practitioners Nick Chung says.

Many people would have seen the local followers parading through the streets of Rotorua last Monday afternoon as they peacefully protested in the pouring rain against the ongoing persecutions in China

Although far way from the action, Nick says the demonstration was more about making New Zealanders more aware of what was still happening overseas.

Falun Dafa's popularity is building in Rotoruo, as well as New Zealand, Nick says.

Last year, Rotorua was visited by Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Cuiying, who displayed her traditional Chinese art with an exhibition which asked people to support the freedom of choice to practice Falun Dafa.

Although an Australian resident, Cuiying had been imprisoned when she had returned to China to protest against the Government's move to ban the regimen.

Now she travels the world telling of her plight and trying to collect support for the Falun Dafa cause.

A local practitioner who does not want to be named said she had been practicing Falun Dafa for a long time, and says the regime helps clarity in her mind and through it, she suffers less stress.

"Practicing has really helped me."

"Falun Dafa is not a religion, it is not political and is about the betterment of humanity." She said.

On May 8, 2003, the police illegally arrested Zuo Guooqing. He was tortured to the point where he developed a kidney problem. The police took him to the People's Hospital and said that they would continue to persecute him after he had a physical examination. The police also arrested practitioners Li Baozhu and Bai Xuchang.

The 610 Office* was shocked and frightened by the lawsuits against Jiang Zemin filed overseas. They spread a ridiculous rumor about Falun Gong practitioners, and used it as an excuse to start registering all practitioners and temporary tenants. They are investigating people who have computers in their homes, have Internet access, and any person with yellow cloth that can be used to make Dafa banners. They are planning another round of persecution.

On the afternoon of April 18, the police arrested Zhang Yongkui and are holding him at the Wu Jiawa Detention Center.

At around 6:30 a.m. on March 27, 2003, Mao Yongchun distributed Dafa materials outside Lingyuan Prison, where he was illegally arrested. Police officer Dong Gang sent him to Mohudian Police Station in Lingyuan and then to Lingyuan Detention Center. Six days later Mao had an apparent heart attack and was released. On April 18, police officers Dong Gang, Chen Guojun, Jing Jinlong, and Wei Qiang from Mohudian Police Station again illegally took him to the Lingyuan Police Department. On the morning of April 21, they sent him to Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp in Chaoyang City.

Wang Houling, male, 38 years old, of Duojuguanzhuang Village in the town of Dadian, Junan County, was arrested on May 26, 2003, when he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong.

From November 17 to December 2001, the head of the number six squad Li Tong, the vice-head Zhu Dan, and instructor Zhang Tao at the first subsquad tortured practitioners including Chen Hongyu, Lu Jianjie, Gao Cuiping, and Wang Xiulan. They forced the practitioners to write statements renouncing Falun Gong by means including electric shock and the "dead person's bed" [The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. This treatment could last from several hours up to more than a dozen days. This type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.]. Zhang Tao also used vile words to insult practitioners.

On March 3, 2003, the officers from Chaoyang Police Branch arrested Qiu Ying, female, 30 years old, of Nanguan District in Changchun City, and sent her to Shuangyang Detention Center. They sentenced her to one year in Jilin Province Female Forced Labor Camp. She left a less than two-year-old daughter at home. During her detention, she went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution. We do not know her current situation.

Tangshan City TV Station reported that the police illegally arrested more than 50 practitioners.

On the afternoon of June 3, 2003, Gao Yonghui was illegally arrested at Caotangsi in Chengdu City. Around 4 p.m. on June 4, more than a dozen police officers from Qingyang Police Branch illegally ransacked Gao's home.

On June 1, 2003, the Security Section of Dongcheng District Education Committee sent a memo to all schools requesting them to "enhance the monitoring and control of certian personnel including Falun Gong practitioners. Actively accquire their information and promptly report any problems to the superior agencies." The Dongcheng Police Station is also investigating the security situations in different work units. It has sent many forms to all schools for them to fill out.

Several days ago, three police officers from Liaohe Oil and Well Company Security Section (Police Station) arrested two female practitioners who were distributing Dafa materials in the residential district. They also arrested three other unidentified people.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

Daguanyuan Police Station Chief Wang Yong, 38, suddenly died of a stroke on June 5, 2003. Wang Yong persecuted Dafa practitioners on many occasions.

Xiao Shicheng, male, Jiaozhou City Party Secretary, was diagnosed with lung cancer immediately after he publicly announced orders to carry out the persecution against Falun Gong. He died a few months later.

Hu Jinmei, female, was the head of the Propaganda Department of Jiaozhou City. In the spring of 2002, Hu Jinmei ordered television networks and newspapers to defame Falun Gong, and instructed the Mao Qiang theatrical troupe to develop programs that slandered Falun Gong. Afterwards she was diagnosed with lung cancer, and has since died.

I am not a Falun Dafa practitioner. Since July 20, 1999, after the government started persecuting Falun Gong, under the influence of government propaganda from television, I began vehemently criticizing Falun Gong. I even tore apart a copy of Zhuan Falun and helped to persecute Falun Gong. The karmic retribution I live with today is all due to that. I suffered from cerebral hemorrhage this past February. I now understand that Falun Gong is good, and that it teaches people to become benevolent. I would like to declare here that Falun Dafa is good.
