(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 33 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Ms. Xu Shufen Taken to ICU After Her Arrest
Ms. Xu Shufen from Pinggu District, in her 70s, was arrested at home by several officers from the Xinggu Police Station on the afternoon of July 27, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the case handling center at No. 59, Weiping Road, Pinggu District, and was interrogated all night. Her family was informed the next day that she was in the Pinggu District Hospital ICU because of her heart and high blood pressure. She was fine that morning and worked in the field before she was arrested. Ms. Xu was released on bail pending trial. She was told by a doctor that she needed surgery.
2. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Zuojuan Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
Ms. Yang Zuojuan, 60, was reported to police for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to two years in prison by the Zhaoyuan City Court on August 3, 2023 and fined 5000 yuan.
3. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Imprisoned
Ms. Li Guihua from Lianshan District was taken to the No. 2 Women’s Prison in early August 2023.
Mr. Liu Quanwang and Zhang Aimin from Nanpiao District were transferred from the Huludao Detention Center to the Panjin Prison. Zhang Aimin was transferred from the Panjin Prison to the Jinzhou Prison in early July 2023.
4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xue Persecuted in Prison
Ms. Li Xue was sentenced to ten years in prison and was detained in Shandong Women’s Prison. She announced in April 2022 that her statement to give up Falun Gong was void, which infuriated the prison authorities. She has since been held in solitary confinement. No one knows her current situation.
5. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cao Guiying Arrested and Detained
Ms. Cao Guiying was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in Cangshan Town on July 24, 2023. She was detained in Zhongjiang County.
6. [Ningxiang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Qunying Arrested
Ms. Wang Qunying, 60, was reported to police for talking to a person about Falun Gong in a bus station near the People’s Hospital on the morning of July 22, 2023. Three officers including Jiang Wen from the Yutan Police Station arrested her on July 25, 2023. Ms. Wang was detained for five days in the Ningxiang City Detention House, and was released on July 31, 2023.
7. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tang Yunxia Detained
Ms. Tang Yunxia was taken to a hotel by police on July 24, 2023 and was monitored around the clock. The police claimed that she was abducted and held to maintain the stability of the 2023 Summer World University Games in Chengdu City. Her family members are not allowed to visit her.
8. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yin Aimei Arrested
Ms. Yin Aimei from Baiguo Town was arrested on the morning of August 4, 2023.
9. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yanlian and Ms. Sun Yuling Arrested
Ms. Zhang Yanlian from Xiangyuan Community in Gucheng District was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers in the Beita District on the afternoon of August 2, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Zhang is currently held in the Chaoyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Sun Yuling was arrested at her home on the evening of August 2, 2023. She is being held in a detention house.
10. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Ms. An Shuyun Detained
Ms. An Shuyun has been detained for more than 15 days.
11. [Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Yang Dexin Released
Mr. Yang Dexin, 55, lives in Hengkeng Village, Luocheng Town, Wanzai County, Yichun City. He was arrested by officers from the Qingshanhu District Police Department in Nanchang City on July 29, 2019, and was later sentenced to four years in prison. He was incarcerated in the Nanchang City Prison and was released on July 29, 2023.
12. [Tianmen City, Hubei Province] Ms. Deng Cai’e Arrested
Ms. Deng Cai’e was arrested, and detained from March to July 2023.
13. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Seven Practitioners Arrested
Six practitioners were arrested at 5 p.m. on July 18, 2023, including Du Fengjuan, Yu Shuhua, Zhao Xiaohong, Zhao Baoli, Li Guifang, and Huang. Liu Jingchun was arrested on July 19, 2023. Except for Huang, the other practitioners are still being held in the Chengde City Detention Center.
14. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Recent Information About Ms. Sun Shuyun
Ms. Sun Shuyun’s younger sister went to the Hulan Police Department on August 1, 2023, and learned that Liu Yingge was the person in charge of Ms. Sun’s case. When she contacted Liu and asked about Ms. Sun, he was infuriated.
Ms. Sun’s lawyer met with her on August 3, 2023. The lawyer said she was emaciated, only weighed about 66 pounds, and her hands and feet were numb. Her mental state was still good and she was able to eat.
15. [Chongqing] Ms. Li Ronghui Arrested
Ms. Li Ronghui from Qijiang District, 70, was reported to police and arrested by officers from the Jiangjia Police Station at 10 a.m. on August 2, 2023. When the police searched her they found money imprinted with information about Falun Gong, and Falun Gong keepsakes. They took her to her home and ransacked it. When Ms. Li’s daughter Zhao Li came home at 6 p.m., the police were still there. They confiscated several Falun Gong books and money. Ms. Li was taken to the police station and released at midnight.
16. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Case Against Mr. Liu Jinbo Submitted to the Procuratorate
The case against Mr. Liu Jinbo was submitted to the Procuratorate.
17. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Mei’e Arrested
Ms. Zheng Mei’e was arrested at her son’s home.
18. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Zhang Tiejun and Guo Zhonghong Arrested and Detained
Zhang Tiejun and Guo Zhonghong from the Liaozhong District were arrested by officers from the Xi Street Police Station for distributing information about Falun Gong on the afternoon of August 1, 2023. Both practitioners were sent to the No. 1 Detention Center.
19. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Ying Arrested and Detained
Ms. Jiang Ying was arrested on July 26, 2023, and her home was ransacked. She was released later that day. She was arrested again on July 28, 2023 and sent to the Baishan Detention Center.
20. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Wang Yandong Sent to Prison
Wang Yandong is detained in the No. 1 Prison of Shenyang City.
