(Minghui.org) In my area there was a police officer called Rui, who had taken an active part in the persecution of Falun Dafa since it started in July 1999. Although I was a little afraid of him, I once had a dream that he was waiting for me to save him.

Due to my fear, I didn’t have the courage to talk to Rui myself. I managed to find one of his relatives, clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to her and persuaded her to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I gave her some Falun Dafa information and asked her to give it to Rui. She promised she would, but I later found out that she hadn’t done it.

Soon after, Rui was transferred to the local police department to be in charge of the persecution. I found him there with other officers, but before I could say anything, he started to say things to humiliate me. My competitive mentality showed up and I started to argue with him. Not long after, he sent people to harass me at home.

I looked within and realized that, although I wanted to clarify the facts to him, I didn’t do it out of compassion. I was just trying to complete a task. Many of my attachments were revealed in the process, including my competitive mentality, my hatred, and the feeling I was being treated unfairly. I knew that I had to clarify the facts to him with wisdom and rationality. Only when I could let go of my attachment to self would I be able to save him.

Thanks to Master’s arrangement, I found out Rui’s address and went to visit him one night. I told him how the CCP staged the Tiananmen self-immolation hoax to slander Falun Dafa, and that the Chinese publication bureau had rescinded the ban on Falun Dafa books in 2011. Rui was shocked to hear this and I gave him more information to read.

When I left, Rui was very friendly, and he told me to let him know if I ran into any difficulty in the future. I visited him again shortly after and clarified the facts to his family and persuaded them to quit the CCP.

After that, Rui did his best to protect local practitioners.

During one of the harassment campaigns, Rui sent two officers who supported Dafa to a practitioner’s home. When they arrived, the practitioner was in the middle of printing materials. She hadn’t locked her door and was wearing earphones to listen to an experience-sharing podcast. She didn’t even realize the police had come in until they were standing right next to her. She asked them why they were harassing her. One officer pointed to the body camera on his shoulder and said, “I’ve already turned it off.” They left after a short while.

Another practitioner was reported for talking to people about Dafa. Rui and another officer turned up. Rui asked the practitioner a few simple questions and then told the person who’d reported her to leave. After the crowd dispersed, he let the practitioner go.

When I saw Rui the other day, I almost didn’t recognize him. His face had a kind expression and he looked very young and handsome. I think it’s really true that one’s appearance reflects one’s inner emotions.
