(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Macheng, Hubei Province] Mr. Shen Bogui Repeatedly Harassed
Officers from the Macheng City Procuratorate went to 84-year-old Mr. Shen Bogui’s home and took him to the procuratorate on December 11, 2023. They ordered him to sign the three statements, promising not to practice Falun Gong, otherwise, he would be sentenced to prison. Mr. Shen refused to sign. They contacted his son multiple times via the Songjiahe Community, claiming that they would sentence his father to probation if he signed the statement. If he refused he would be sentenced to prison.
Mr. Shen was previously arrested in 2012 and sentenced to three years with five years probation. He was repeatedly harassed by officers from the Nahu Police Station this year.
2. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhao Rongjun Arrested
Ms. Zhao Rongjun from No. 5 Residential Community in the Nan’an District was arrested by local police in early December.
3. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Xiuying Arrested
Ms. Yang Xiuying, in her 80s, was arrested at home around 7 p.m. on November 30, 2023. Eight officers from the Gaotang County Domestic Security Division and the Qingping Police Station made the arrest.
4. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Meng Mei Arrested Again
Ms. Meng Mei from the Xishan area was arrested in August 2023 when she gave someone Falun Gong informational materials. She was previously arrested in 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic when she distributed Falun Gong information in a residential community. Officers from the Haozhuang Police Station made the arrest. Ms. Meng was detained for eight months. She became emaciated and some teeth fell out due to abuse in the detention center. Local police harassed her at home and pressured her to write a guarantee statement to stop practicing Falun Gong. She refused to comply.
5. [Dongning City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xiao Hua Persecuted in Police Hospital
Ms. Xiao Hua was held in the Mudianjiang Police Hospital after she was arrested. She was administered drugs against her will and she developed high blood pressure (230/140). The police repeatedly refused to release her, instead, they attempted to send her to a detention center. The center refused to accept her.
The case against Ms. Xiao was submitted to the Hailin Procuratorate. She was indicted and her case was filed in the Hailin City Court.
6. [Jianli City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Qionghua Sentenced
Ms. Liu Qionghua was arrested and taken to the Jianli City Detention Center on February 17, 2023. Her family was finally notified nine months later, on November 16, that they could visit her. Her family was told she was sentenced to two years and would be sent to prison that day. She was only allowed to see her family via video.
7. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Jiang Changxian Abused in Police Custody
Ms. Jiang Changxian was detained in a lockup for seven days before she was taken to the Huaihua Detention Center. While she was sent to a hospital to undergo a physical examination and during her arrest, police officers dragged her so violently that her clothes were torn. They also took her to a location where there was no surveillance camera and beat her. Seven days later her hands were still bruised. The procuratorate notified her that she was officially arrested after she was held for 37 days in the detention center.
8. [Beijing] Ms. Chen Shuping Is Missing
Ms. Chen Shuping, around 60 years old, has been missing for a month.
9. [Langzhong City, Sichuan Province] Two Practitioners Sentenced, One Is Missing
Ms. Li Jinghong was arrested at the end of 2022 and was sentenced to three years in prison. There has been no further information about her since.
Ms. Zhao Juying was sentenced to three years with four years probation and fined 10,5000 yuan. She was released in August 2023.
Ms. Zheng Suhua was arrested in July 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her whereabouts are unknown.
10. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Yang Ping Arrested
Yang Ping (gender unknown) from the Jincheng Seed Stock Station, was arrested when he or she was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Baitaizi Market. The details are being investigated.
11. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Wu Siqing Faces Trial
Wu Siqing’s lawyer received a notice from the Liuyang City Court on the morning of December 11, 2023, saying that Wu was scheduled to be tried at 9 a.m. on December 22, at the Liuyang City Court.
12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Xu Weidong Detained
Officers from the Liucheng Police Station in the Wenjiang District broke into and ransacked the home of Mr. Xu Weidong and his wife Ms. Sun Fenghua on November 26, 2023. The couple was taken to the Liucheng Police Station.
Their family members went to the police station to demand their release the next day, and were told that they were taken to the Yongsheng Detention Center to be held for 10 days. Ms. Sun was released after the 10-day detention. Mr. Xu was placed in criminal detention. He is still held in the Yongsheng Detention Center.
13. [Tianjin] Ms. Ran Guanquan Detained
Ms. Ran Guanquan, 74, from Binhai New Area, was taken to the Binhai New Area No. 1 Detention Center on December 1, 2023. Her family received a notice about her criminal detention.
Prior to this latest persecution, Ms. Ran had been repeatedly harassed by officers from the Xiangyang Police Station for distributing Falun Gong information. She was also repeatedly taken to the police station.
14. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Harassed
Falun Gong practitioners from Zhugedian were harassed recently by officers from the Yanshun Road Police Station in Yanjiao Town. The practitioners included Ms. Yu Xuelan, Ms. Fu Haihong, Ms. Li Cuixiang, Mr. Zhang Liancun, Ms. Dong Guirong, Ms. Zhang Guangling, and Ms. Liu Fengying.
15. [Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Chen Renlin Paralyzed in Prison
Mr. Chen Renlin, 88, was arrested in August 2019 for distributing Falun Gong information. He was sentenced to eight years in early 2022. He was taken to the Suzhou Prison without his family being notified around May 2023. It was recently learned that he is now paralyzed and unable to take care of himself. The prison refuses to release him.
