The positive behavior of Falun Dafa practitioners has impressed people around the world. The mayor of Barrie proclaimed May 13, 2024, "World Falun Dafa Day," and at least 10 other Canadian cities have planned similar ceremonies to honor the day.
The Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances and exercise demonstrations attracted many people who stopped to sign a petition after learning about the ongoing persecution in China.
A practitioner commented, "Those who went to the April 25 Peaceful Appeal set a great example for us with their compassionate and non-violent way of clarifying the facts."
That orderly gathering in Beijing 25 years ago led to a backlash of false propaganda aimed at discrediting Falun Gong, setting the stage for the persecution of the peaceful practice that started three months later.
Although approximately 10,000 practitioners participated in the appeal back in 1999, no one shouted a single slogan or created a disturbance, making it an "unprecedentedly peaceful rally seldom seen in the world."
One government representative said, “Normally we do not interfere in the affairs of other countries. However, when this unacceptable behavior occurs, it is true that we cannot remain silent. So we stand with the victims and hope for a solution...”
